Ingredients

  • 2 to 3 large and thick sweet potatoes
  • 1 to 2 tbsp of avocado or olive oil
  • 1 tsp of salt
  • 1 tsp of garlic powder
  • ½ tsp of paprika
  • ½ tsp chili powder or ground cumin
  • ½ tsp of freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  • Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (190°C).
  • Wash and dry the sweet potatoes thoroughly. Then, cut them into thick wedges, approximately ½ inch thick. I recommend halving the sweet potatoes lengthwise and then cutting each half into thirds or quarters, depending on the size of the sweet potato.

  • Place all the wedges into a mixing bowl and drizzle them with 1 to 2 tablespoons of olive oil and all the seasonings. Toss the wedges to ensure they are evenly coated.
  • Once the air fryer is heated, evenly space out the wedges inside the air fryer basket. Avoid overcrowding; if your air fryer is small, cook the wedges in two batches.
  • Air fry the sweet potato wedges for 15 to 18 minutes, turning each wedge over with tongs halfway through the cooking time to ensure even crispiness.

  • Serve the sweet potato wedges immediately as a delicious side dish, or save them for meal prep. They pair well with ketchup or your favorite dipping sauce. Enjoy!

Notes

Tip #1 - Uniform Thickness: For even cooking, try to cut the sweet potato wedges into uniform thicknesses. This ensures that they cook evenly and you don’t end up with some wedges undercooked while others are overly crispy.
Tip #2 - Don’t Overcrowd: Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket, as this can prevent proper air circulation and result in unevenly cooked wedges. Cook the wedges in batches if necessary, ensuring they’re spaced apart in a single layer.
Serve Immediately: Sweet potato wedges are best enjoyed fresh and hot from the air fryer. For optimal flavor and texture, serve them immediately as a delicious side dish or snack.
Sweet Potatoes: Use regular potatoes, yams, or your favorite variety of sweet potato.
Avocado or Olive Oil: Any cooking oil you have on hand will work.
Burgers: Serve sweet potato wedges alongside your favorite burgers, such as these bison burgersgrilled turkey burgers, or cilantro lime chicken burgers.
Storing: To store sweet potato wedges, allow them to cool completely, then transfer them to an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 3-4 days.
Reheating: To reheat, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C), spread the wedges in a single layer on a baking sheet, and bake for 10-15 minutes until heated through. Alternatively, you can reheat them in the air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 5-7 minutes, turning halfway through for even heating.
How to Roast in Oven: Preheat to 425°F (220°C), and line a baking sheet. Evently space out the seasoned sweet potato wedges across the baking sheet and roast for 25-35 minutes until crispy, flipping halfway through for even crispness.
