These air fryer pita chips are crispy, golden, and ready in about 10 minutes with just 4 ingredients. They’re lighter than store-bought, taste way better, and using the right type of pita gives you the exact crunch you want every time.
Pick Seasoning - In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil and your chosen seasoning blend. For plain pita chips, just use olive oil, salt, and garlic powder.
Cut the Pita - Cut each pita bread into triangles. For an 8-inch pita, cut into 8 to 10 triangles. For mini pitas, cut into quarters.
Coat the Pita Chips - Brush or spray both sides of the pita triangles with the olive oil mixture.
Place into Air Fryer - Arrange the pita chips in a single layer in the air fryer basket. If needed, cook in two batches so they don’t overlap. For an extra crispy texture, lightly mist with avocado oil spray.
Cook - Air fry at 320°F for 6 to 9 minutes, flipping halfway. Thin pita chips usually take about 6 minutes, while thicker pita takes closer to 9 minutes. Chips should be golden, crisp, and firm but not burnt. Every air fryer is different, so check at the 6-minute mark.
Cool - Let the pita chips cool for a few minutes before serving. They will crisp up more as they cool. Enjoy with hummus, tzatziki, guacamole, or your favorite dip.
Notes
Storage: Store cooled pita chips in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. Re-crisp in the air fryer for 1–2 minutes if needed.Pita Options: Use regular, whole wheat, or gluten-free pita. Pocket pitas can be split for thinner, chip-like crisps. Leave them whole for thicker, restaurant-style chips. Naan and flatbread also work but may need extra time.Oil: Olive oil gives the best golden color and flavor. Avocado oil spray works too. Don't skip the oil!
