Frozen yogurt bars are one of my go-to summer snacks when I want something cold, refreshing, and still filling - I make these on repeat along with my Greek yogurt banana popsicles. I've tested a lot of versions, and most turn out icy or just feel like yogurt bark - this one is creamy, satisfying, and holds up thanks to the granola base.
All you need is Greek yogurt, oats, nut butter, maple syrup, and fruit. Just press the base, spread the yogurt on top, and freeze - it sets perfectly without getting rock hard or crumbly. I've also tested this with different yogurts and mix-ins, so it's easy to customize.
I usually keep a batch in my freezer for the week or make them before having people over. I rotate these with my cottage cheese ice cream and protein cookie dough - same creamy, high-protein vibe, just a little more dessert-like.

Frozen Yogurt Bars vs. Frozen Yogurt Bark
Most frozen yogurt bar recipes are really just yogurt bark - yogurt spread on a sheet pan with fruit on top. It's light and refreshing, but can be a little icy and not very filling.
These are different. The chewy no-bake granola base makes them sturdier, creamier, and way more satisfying, so they actually work as a snack (not just something sweet).

I just tried this easy no-bake recipe and LOVED it. I'm a certified nutritionist and weight-loss coach, and I've shared this with my clients as well. Perfect snack to satisfy the sweet tooth!!

Why You'll Love This Healthy Recipe
- More filling than yogurt bark: Most recipes are just yogurt on a sheet pan-this has a chewy granola base, so it actually keeps you full
- Creamy, not icy: Made with Greek yogurt for a smooth, satisfying bite
- Easy, no-bake recipe: Just press, layer, and freeze - no oven needed
- High-protein snack: Each bar has protein to keep you energized
- Perfect for summer: Cold, refreshing, and great to keep in the freezer
- Easy to customize: Use your favorite fruit, nut butter, or toppings
Ingredients You'll Need

- Greek yogurt: Use thick Greek yogurt or Skyr for the creamiest texture. Vanilla is easiest, but plain works with a little extra maple syrup. I also love using it in my mango yogurt popsicles.
- Rolled oats: Old-fashioned oats give the base structure and chew. Quick oats don't hold as well, similar to my nut-free protein granola bars.
- Nut butter: Binds the base and adds richness. Almond butter and peanut butter both work-just make sure it's smooth and drippy so everything mixes easily.
- Maple syrup: Naturally sweetens and helps the base stick together. I prefer maple syrup over honey because it mixes more evenly and has a lighter flavor.
- Berries: Add sweetness and texture. I've tested fresh and frozen-both work, pat them dry so the bars don't get icy.
- Vanilla extract (optional): A small splash adds extra flavor, especially if you're using plain yogurt.

Easy Ingredient Substitutions
These frozen yogurt granola bars are flexible and easy to customize. I've tested these swaps, and they all work without affecting the texture.
- Make it nut-free: Swap the nut butter for sunflower seed butter.
- Use plain yogurt: Plain Greek yogurt works great-add 1-2 extra tablespoons of maple syrup and a splash of vanilla.
- Swap the sweetener: Honey works instead of maple syrup, but the flavor will be slightly stronger.
- Change the fruit: Use strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, or chopped mango. I've tested fresh and frozen-both work, just pat dry.
- Dairy-free option: Use a thick dairy-free yogurt (like coconut or almond). Just make sure it's not too thin or the bars will freeze icy.
- Add protein: Mix in a scoop of your favorite protein powder to the yogurt layer. I've tested this with vanilla protein, and it blends in easily.
How to Make Healthy Frozen Yogurt Granola Bars (Step-by-Step)

- Step 1: Line a pan with parchment paper, then mix the oats, nut butter, and maple syrup. Press firmly into an even layer so the bars hold together.

- Step 2: Spread the Greek yogurt or Skyr evenly over the base. Use the back of a spoon or spatula to smooth it out.

- Step 3: Add your berries on top, then freeze for 2-3 hours until firm. Let it sit for a few minutes before slicing into bars.
Expert Tips
- Use thick Greek yogurt: I've tested thinner yogurts, and they freeze icy. Thick Greek yogurt gives you the creamiest texture.
- Press the base firmly: Don't rush this-I always press it down well so the bars hold together and don't crumble.
- Pat fruit dry: I've made this mistake before-extra moisture makes the yogurt layer icy.
- Let them sit before slicing: Take them out 5-10 minutes before cutting so they don't crack or break.
- Use a sharp knife (warm if needed): I like to run mine under warm water for a clean, even slice.
Frozen Yogurt Bar Variations & Flavor Ideas
These frozen yogurt granola bars are super easy to customize. I've tested a few of these, and they all work great:
- Peanut butter & chocolate: Swirl peanut butter into the yogurt and add mini chocolate chips.
- Peach crumble: Add diced fresh peaches and a sprinkle of extra granola for a healthy peach crisp vibe-similar to my air fryer peaches.
- Strawberry shortcake: Use chopped strawberries and a sprinkle of crushed granola or graham crackers on top.
- Tropical mango: Use diced mango and coconut flakes-similar to my mango yogurt popsicles.
- Chocolate chip: Add mini chocolate chips for a sweeter version.
- Berry mix: Combine strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries for a classic combo.
- Protein boost: Mix vanilla protein powder into the yogurt layer for extra protein.

Storage & Make Ahead Tips
- Store in the freezer: Keep the bars in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 2-3 weeks.
- Separate layers: I like to place parchment paper between layers to prevent them from sticking together.
- Let them soften slightly: Take them out 5-10 minutes before eating so they're easier to bite and slice.
- Keep them covered: This helps prevent freezer burn and keeps the yogurt layer creamy.
- Don't refrigerate: They'll soften too much and lose their structure-these are best kept frozen.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes! Both work. If using frozen, thaw slightly and pat them dry first-this prevents extra moisture so the yogurt layer doesn't turn icy.
Thick Greek yogurt or Skyr works best. I've tested thinner yogurts, and they freeze more icy, while thicker yogurt stays creamy and smooth.
Yes! Use a thick dairy-free yogurt like coconut or almond. Just make sure it's not too thin, or the bars may freeze icy.
This usually happens if the yogurt is too thin or the fruit has too much moisture. Use thick yogurt and always pat fruit dry before adding.
Let them sit at room temperature for 5-10 minutes before slicing. I also like to use a sharp knife (run it under warm water) for clean cuts.
Store them in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 2-3 weeks. I like to separate layers with parchment paper so they don't stick together.

Instructions
- Prep the pan: Line an 8x8" or 9x9" baking dish with parchment paper and set aside.
- Make the granola base: In a large bowl, mix together all the granola base ingredients until combined. Transfer to the lined dish and use a spatula (or your hands) to firmly press into an even layer. Make sure to really pack it down so the bars hold together.
- Add the yogurt layer: Spread the vanilla Greek yogurt or skyr evenly over the granola base. Smooth it out with the back of a spoon or spatula.
- Add toppings: Top with strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and/or blackberries.
- Freeze: Place in the freezer for at least 2-3 hours, or until fully set.
- Slice and serve: Let sit at room temperature for 5-10 minutes, then cut into squares. Enjoy cold and store leftovers in the freezer.

I have been on a low salt diet, so even 1/4 tsp of salt was too much for me in this recipe. The yogurt was way too solid when frozen. And this had a bit too much cinnamon flavor. Otherwise, the result was good. Don't think I am likely to make this again though.

Hi! It needs to stay frozen, so unless you have a cooler, this will be hard to bring on a trip.
