How to make everything bagel crusted salmon
It is so easy to make this crispy pan-seared and oven-baked salmon crusted in everything but the bagel seasoning. It takes under 15 minutes! Here are step-by-step directions and pictures for visual reference:
Step 1:
First, preheat your oven to 350°F and spread the everything but the bagel seasoning onto a plate.
Step 2:
Then, dry the salmon fillets with paper towels and lightly season with salt and pepper. Then, press the flesh side of the salmon fillets into the everything spice to create a crust. Try to avoid getting the seasoning on the skin side.
Step 3:
Next, place an oven-safe saute pan onto the stovetop and heat olive oil to medium-high. When the oil is hot, place the crusted salmon fillets skin-side down into the pan and cook for 3 minutes. Then turn off the heat and transfer the pan to the oven.
Step 4:
Now, bake for 5 – 8 minutes until the salmon is cooked to your preferred taste. Carefully remove the pan from the oven and place an oven mitt or dish rag over the handle when you place it down, so no one grabs the oven-hot handle!
For extra crispiness, feel free to turn the stove back on to medium and flip the salmon so the crusted side is face down. Cook for one additional minute to crispen the seasoning.
Serve with fresh arugula or Greek salad and tzatziki. Enjoy!
Pro cooking tips & tricks
Pat your salmon dry. This is super important and ensures that the everything bagel seasoning sticks onto the salmon like a crust. If you skip this step, it may fall off when cooking.
Press the seasoning in with your fingers. This ensures the seasoning sticks to the salmon and doesn’t call off as you pan-sear it and bake it.
Make sure the oil is HOT. Make sure the oil is hot and sizzling before adding the salmon. This ensures the maximum amount of crispiness. Avoid adding your salmon to a cold pan with olive oil because the skin will be soggy and gross.
Start skin-side down. The everything bagel crust WILL BURN if you add it to the pan first. Trust me, don’t do it.
Don’t touch until done cooking. Don’t pick up or move the salmon until the very end to ensure a crispy skin.

Do you have a dairy-based dressing (like in the picture), that would be a good dressing to go with this?
Tati Chermayeff says
Hi Joy! I used tzatziki, which is a greek yogurt base, but you can use dairy-free plain yogurt instead. (recipe here: https://healthfulblondie.com/greek-chicken-meatballs-with-homemade-tzatziki/). Let me know what you think!
