These delicious 6 ingredient flourless banana oat waffles are soft and fluffy on the inside with nice crispy edges. No flour is needed for these homemade blender waffles - it's hard to tell they are gluten free and healthy!

the best waffle recipe with NO flour
I love my oatmeal protein pancakes, but waffles are the best comfort food. Nothing beats a delicious, fluffy waffle topped with sliced banana, powdered sugar, and a drizzle of maple syrup. The recipe seriously brings me back to my childhood when I would order a triple stack after a soccer game with extra chocolate chips and strawberries.
Anyways, these banana oatmeal waffles are not only super delicious, but they are easy to make, just like my Easy Vegan Baked Oatmeal! Just add all your ingredients to a blender and let the waffle iron do the rest.
Plus, there is no flour and no sugar needed! The texture is super light and fluffy, with perfectly crisp edges. Crazy to think that these waffles are FLOURLESS…. yes, NO FLOUR.
Personally, I love enjoying them with my family for a weekend brunch or as a quick breakfast when I am running out the door. They are easy to freeze and meal prep, plus you are sure to impress everyone!
Why these banana oat waffles are healthy:
These flourless banana oat waffles are healthy for many reasons; here are a few:
- No Flour. There are no refined flours in this waffle recipe - we blend up rolled oats.
- No Suagr. We rely on the natural sugars of brown, spotty bananas. There is no added sugar in these waffles!
- No Oil. Plus, don't forget that there is no oil needed - these waffles are crispy and delicious without adding lots of oil.

The ingredients
You are going to love how easy these flourless banana oat waffles are to make - they only require six basic ingredients and the batter comes together in a blender. Here is a list of ingredients, so you are prepared, but trust me, you certainly have all of them in your pantry already!
- Rolled Oats: Since there is no flour in these waffles, we use 1 and ¾ cups of rolled oats to thicken up the batter. To make these flourless waffles gluten-free, make sure you use certified gluten-free old fashion rolled oats.
- Bananas: We use 2 browned and spotty bananas to help bind these waffles together and give them the best flavor. Not to meantion that bananas act as a natural sweetener!
- Eggs: 2 eggs add protein to these waffles.
- Almond Milk: Add ⅔ cups of unsweetened vanilla or plain almond milk to make the waffle batter. You can also use 2% milk, skim milk, whole milk, cashew, or oat milk.
- Vanilla Extract: For the best flavor, add one teaspoon of vanilla.
- Cinnamon: Nothing is better than the banana cinnamon flavor combo. So to make these waffles extra delicious, add in 1.5 teaspoons of ground cinnamon.
- Baking Powder: Finally, 1.5 teaspoons of baking powder helps these waffles rise as they cook. It's what makes them nice a fluffy.
Kitchen tools required

How to make flourless banana oat waffles
No flour banana oat waffles are light and fluffy with nice and crispy edges. They are so easy to make too in two steps! First, we'll make the batter in a blender, and then we will make them in a waffle iron-the perfect healthy breakfast and brunch recipe.
Begin by adding all ingredients to a highspeed blender and blending for 30 - 45 seconds until it's a smooth batter. Then, let the batter sit for 4 - 6 minutes to thicken while you heat the waffle iron. This is important to thicken the batter!
Next, heat waffle iron and lightly grease with non-stick spray or butter. Once hot, spoon batter into the iron and cook until golden brown and center are cooked through. Note: the amount of batter and cook time depends on the size and strength of your waffle iron. For best results, follow the time recommended by your waffle maker.
Then, repeat until you've used all your batter.
Finally, let the healthy banana oatmeal waffles sit for 1 - 2 minutes before serving warm with toppings of your choice - I love fresh fruit!

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use quick oats?
Yes, you can use quick oats in place of the old fashion rolled oats.
What's the best substitute for almond milk?
The best substitute for almond milk is either 2% cow's milk or oat milk. You can also use whole milk, skim milk, or cashew milk for this recipe.
Do I have to let the batter sit?
It is very important to let the waffle batter sit for 4 - 8 minutes while your waffle iron heats up. The batter needs time to thicken, so they are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside!
Are waffles gluten free?
Not all waffles are gluten-free, but since we use rolled oats in place of flour, these waffles are 100% gluten free.
Can I freeze waffles?
Yes - you can freeze banana waffles in an airtight ziplock bag for up to 3 months. Follow the instructions below on how to reheat.
How to store and reheat leftovers:
Storing: For best results, store leftovers for meal prep breakfast in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Note: they will NOT be as crispy, but the flavor is still great.
Reheating: I recommend placing the waffles in an oven at 350°F for about 5 - 7 minutes until warm. Avoid the microwave because no one likes a soggy waffle.

These turned out a lot better than I'd expected! They puffed up well and taste delicious. I cut the recipe in half for a single waffle!

Just made these, and they are so yummy! Perfectly crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside! I topped with fresh, sliced apples a sprinkle of cinnamon, maple syrup and roasted pecans. Love so many of your recipes!
Tati Chermayeff says
Hi Lisa - I am SO HAPPY to hear that! I love these waffles so much too and that are the perfect texture. YAY! Let me know if you try any other recipes.
Amber Kirkwood says
This batter is very thick. The waffles are very filling. Is there possibly too much baking soda?
Gabriella says
I think the baking soda is what helps the waffles fluff up since oats don't have gluten like regular flour does to help them rise.

I make big batches of this to freeze. Been out for 3 weeks and am making a fresh batch now. This one is my favorite recipe. Thank you for sharing.
Tati Chermayeff says
Hi Stacy, I am SO happy to hear that. So glad you love this recipe as much as me 🙂

My extremely picky 10 year old loved these. With sweet breakfasts, he usually requires chocolate chips or a “Nutella” swirl (quotes because I buy a different brand), but he happily ate 3 of these with a little bit of syrup and chatted about how we can reheat them for school and add them to our (very small!) rotation. Thank you!!!
Jay says
These were great! I made them in a vegan version, substituted the eggs with a powdered egg replacer based on corn and chickpea flower.
Will Dean says
Not as much flavor as expected, and the waffles came out less crispy than I like though I used the same (or slightly higher) setting as I usually do on my waffle iron. The macros are good though.
Renu says
Turned out really great!
I added a pinch of salt in mine.
Thank you for the great recipe!

Super fast and easy peasy… AND Healthy! Perfect! I added blueberries into the batter in the waffle iron, and they were crunchy and juicy depending on where they landed on the grid. Yumm!!!
Tati Chermayeff says
Hi Nikki! Thank you for this review 🙂 means a lot and love that you added blueberries!
Britt says
I loved these! I didn't use my big blender, I used my magic bullet and did it in sections and put it in a mixing bowl. I definitely will be making them again
Tati Chermayeff says
Hi Britt! So happy to hear that 🙂
Lindsey says
These are delicious! My kids liked them plain, but also realized we have Nutella in the cupboard so wanted some with nutella too. For ease, I did reheat in the microwave and they were fine-about 30 to 40 seconds for 4 (half of the batter in our waffle maker). We also shared with with our friends, who are pickier eaters and didn't like them plain, but loved them with the nutella! Overall, great and easy recipe. Next time we are going to add a little flax for extra fiber (only because one of the kiddos has a dietary need for it and these will be so easy to help with it!)

Hello!
I haven’t made this recipe yet, but wanted to ask how you calculated the 247mg of sodium if it doesn’t have any added salt? I’m looking for low sodium recipe for my brother, due to his heart medication. Thanks!
Tati Chermayeff says
Hi! It depends on what type of milk and oats you use. If you use ones without salt, then the recipe is salt free!
