Tips for crispy cauliflower
I love crispy cauliflower! Here are my secret hacks to making the best, tender, and crisp cauliflower:
- Do not skip out on the oil! Avocado or olive oil is not only a wonderful source of healthy fats; it is KEY to make these cauliflower bites crispy!
- Make sure your oven is HOT at 400 F. Oven temperature is really important to get a crisp on your roasted cauliflower!
- Flip cauliflower bites halfway through! By slipping your bites halfway through the cooking time, you are ensuring that both sides are exposed to the heat. In combination with the olive oil, you are guaranteed a crispy veggie!
How to make healthy cauliflower pizza bites
This healthy side dish recipe is so easy to make. You could probably make these with your eyes closed. I have the recipe memorized!
First, you are going to preheat your oven to 400 F and line a large baking tray with parchment paper.
Then, prepare your cauliflower by slicing it in half, then cutting florets into bite-sized flat discs, and evenly spacing them across the lined baking sheet. Brush or spray both sides with avocado oil, season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper, and roast for 20 minutes. Make sure to flip the cauliflower pieces halfway through, until golden and crispy.
Meanwhile, on the stovetop heat marinara sauce.
Next, once cauliflower is ready, remove the tray from the oven and place a spoonful of marinara sauce on each. Top with some shredded mozzarella and grated parmesan and place the baking sheet back in the oven on broil (500 F) for 1 – 2 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
Top with fresh basil and enjoy you delicious healthy pizza bites!
How to store healthy pizza bites
Make extra cauliflower bites? No worries, I love to save my extras in a sealed airtight container in the refrigerator to 4 days. To reheat, just pop them in the microwave for 30 – 60 seconds.
